Raised in rural South Carolina on a 3,000 acre plantation, his childhood was kissed by the Carolina sunshine, seasoned by the salt air, and cleansed by the flowing waters, from the mountains to the sea. Adventure and wilderness travel was the path William took, with an extensive participation reaching the far corners of the world.
