Alex Birney’s roots run deep in the Kansas prairie. Raised on a family farm, he developed an appreciation for agriculture, hard work, and the value of the land from an early age. Whether riding in the combine alongside his grandfather during harvest or spending countless mornings hunting and fishing with family, those experiences shaped not only his passion for the outdoors but also his understanding that every property tells a story.

Today, Alex specializes in selling farms, ranches, recreational properties, and investment land across Kansas. He understands that buying or selling land is about far more than acres or price per acre—it’s about preserving a legacy, protecting an investment, and helping families confidently transition to their next chapter. His knowledge of agriculture, wildlife habitat, and rural real estate allows him to provide clients with insight that extends well beyond the closing table.

Before joining Hayden Outdoors, Alex spent over a decade as a high school football, basketball, and track coach. Coaching taught him the value of leadership, discipline, communication, and serving others—qualities that continue to define how he approaches every client relationship. His commitment to honesty, hard work, and putting people first has earned him the trust of landowners, farmers, ranchers, and investors throughout the region.

Alex is passionate about helping clients maximize the value of their property while showcasing what makes each piece of land unique. Whether it’s productive farmland, trophy whitetail habitat, a working cattle ranch, or a family’s recreational retreat, he believes every property deserves a marketing strategy that reflects its true potential.

When he’s not working, Alex enjoys spending time with his wife, Kylie, and their four children. You’ll often find them outdoors hunting, fishing, coaching youth sports, or exploring the Kansas countryside together. He believes some of life’s greatest lessons are learned on the land and looks forward to passing those traditions on to the next generation.

Alex is proud to be part of Hayden Outdoors Real Estate and considers it a privilege to help families buy, sell, and steward the land they love.

Our family had a piece of land that’s been ours for three generations. We decided to sell it and it is in Kansas. We do not live in Kansas, my sister and myself, I live in California. I knew the land had been used as a walk-in hunting property. There was some emotional attachment to it as well. I started looking for sites to sell And came across Hayden outdoors. And then scrolled through all of their agents. I wanted someone local and he seemed to have a background similar to our family. Farmer went to high school locally etc. I found Alex Birney. Talking to him over the phone , I knew he was the right person he was professional, empathetic to my emotional attachment to the land, interested in the family history, extremely efficient During the process, Alex always responded to me right away to me texting him, even during the time he and his wife are giving birth to their child. I Really feel like I know Alex even though we’ve never met. He handled the entire transaction in such a way that I feel like we became friends. I can’t recommend him highly enough!

Coming to the decision to sell our family ground after our Mother's passing could have been difficult and challenging for us. Fortunately, we reached out to Alex Birney for guidance and found his expertise above the highest standards in his role as a Real Estate Agent. More than our "agent", Alex stepped in as a trusted friend in every step of the process. His suggestions on how to market the property was spot on. While the sale of acreage was actually sold before it was posted, Alex continued to work through the steps of listing, marketing and contracts as if the property had been on the list for weeks/months. Alex is keenly knowledgeable of local real estate trends and has a real feel for our local rural farming community. Even after the final signatures Alex has reached out to us to "check in" to follow up on we are coping with the finishing business at hand. Thank You....Alex and God's Blessings to you and your family. Take care friend................... GO CATS!!!

If you need a Realtor to get the job done, Alex Birney is the one. When it was time to sell my Land / lake in Kansas as a licensed Realtor I knew Hayden Outdoors was the one to list with to get the exposure and price I needed. I called Alex Birney with Hayden Outdoors and asked if he would be willing to list my property. I first explained my difficult situation. I had been going thru a nasty divorce the last 2 years and the Judge ordered it sold. Warning him it was going to be difficult to say the least. He agreed to list it. Alex was amazing and managed to work with both me, my ex and attorney keeping the whole process smooth from start to finish. He sold our property for top dollar and in a short amount of time. He always kept everyone updated and was always available. I cannot thank him enough. He is the best.

My siblings and I used Hayden Outdoors/Alex Birney to sell 3 parcels of our family's land in Western Kansas. Alex met with us in person and during conference calls, patiently answered dozens of questions, both during phone calls, and in e-mails about the process. He listened to our requests for the type of buyer we were looking for who would continue our parent's ranching legacy. We were “rookie sellers” and Alex helped make this process as easy as possible. The properties were promoted as well as possible, photographing the properties at the optimum time.
He was great about answering phone calls promptly, and kept us updated on offers, and fairly explained our options to get the best price given the current market. .I particularly appreciated that he responded himself, we never talked to administrative staff. He assisted my sisters with their 1031 swaps and worked with the title company. Alex’s lifelong knowledge of the area was very helpful in finding the right buyers for us, who would take care of the land. From the first phone call, to the final property closing, Alex was calm, positive, and responsive, in every interaction. In our situation, the 3 sales were completed more quickly than any of us expected. We highly recommend, Alex is someone who really seems to understand the farming/ranching culture, and the values we cherish.
