South-central Iowa summers tend to be warm and humid, averaging in the mid to high 80s and lows in the mid-60s. Winters are often only around four months averaging roughly 10 inches of snow with highs in the low 20s.

Chariton River 40 is located in the south-central part of Iowa, near Derby, just 51 miles south of Des Moines International Airport and 45 minutes west of Rathbun Lake.  The Farm is located northwest of the town and roughly 2 miles west of US Highway 65. Chariton River 40  is just 15 miles west as the crow flies from Interstate 35.
