From antelope and deer to bear and small game, Oklahoma offers a great variety for hunters. There are more than 100 areas to enjoy your hunt. Oklahoma is an ideal location to hunt as one type of game or another is generally in season year round. Deer season runs from beginning of October to the end of December. There is something in the state for every deer hunter. Dense cross timber oaks, wide open mesas, pine-covered hills, rolling plains or bottomland cypress swamps all make for great places in the state to find your next deer.
Antelope season is from the beginning of October to mid-October. The western part of the state is where you can find a majority of the antelope enjoying the wide-open spaces.
Bear season is from the beginning of October to the end of the month. They made their comeback to the state by coming over from the Ouachita and Ozark Mountains in Arkansas. They are a big part of the state’s diversity and can be found in the southeastern part of the state. There is a fall and spring season for turkey hunting. The three types that can be found throughout the state are Eastern, Rio Grande and Merriam. Pheasant hunting is from the beginning of December to the end of January.
