The Property & Game

This +/- 2172 deeded acres, framing both sides of the cottonwood lined Muerto Creek, borders thousands of acres of the Cibola National Forest Oso Ridge district and is just being released to market.  The current owner has manicured and improved the property for trophy elk (6-7 tags per year) and trophy class mule deer (unlimited mule deer and antelope tags) with all 2020 hunting rights and tags being conveyed to buyer.  Merriam's turkeys abound and black bear (all color phases) are abundant as well.

The Valley

The El Morro Valley was first founded by the Spanish Explorers, however, they were not the first recorded residents.  El Morro Inscription Rock National Monument has Anasazi pictographs, then came the Spanish Explorers and even Kit Carson’s name is inscribed into the rocks…

Of course the mild four-season climate, abundant game and water attracted the original habitants, even leaving two large kiva’s on the Muerto Creek Ranch. Many arrowheads and artifacts have been found along the creek that intersects the ranch.  Google says it’s 49 minutes to Gallup and 60 minutes to Grants, NM, both of which have G-5 capable airports.   And, it’s only 2 hours to Albuquerque, 5 hours to Phoenix and 5.5 hours to Tucson, AZ.  This little known and sparsely populated valley has been very well preserved.

Improvements & Headquarters  

The property hosts a +/-2800 sq. ft. Santa Fe Style home with 3 bedrooms and 2 baths, a large great room, a 2-car garage with equipment shed, a garden, an excellent well, electric, phone and propane.  An elk & deer drinker has been installed not 50 yds. from the porch, so be it bugle season or just a normal day, one can watch the undisturbed elk, mule deer, turkey and even an occasional bear, right off the porch. This property is turn key and being conveyed fully furnished. The hidden headquarters is tucked back into the timber in a meadow where the world can never see it.  

About 1/3 of a mile away is the 2200 sq. ft. guest cabin with 3 bedrooms and 2 baths also being conveyed partially furnished. With well, electric, and private access, one would never know if another guest was on the ranch.  An excellent foot trail connects the two, but also allows for incredible privacy, as this guest cabin would be excellent for VRBO, AIRBNB, etc.
