Welcome to Hermit Jack Ranch based out of Jackson County, Colorado, not far from the small town of Walden. The 280 acres is broken up into 2 parcels consisting of 240 acres for the main ranch and an additional 40 acres in Parson's Draw at the base of Independence Mountain. The main home sits on two beautiful ponds connected to Three Mile Creek. Around the home are multiple outbuildings including a barn, storage sheds, and the old homestead dating all the way back to 1920. Only a quick 15 minute drive from Walden, this is your chance to claim your spot in North Park.
The ranch is mainly made up of sage brush and native grasses. The flat and expansive topography allows the property to be used as an equestrian or cattle ranch if desired. Mature aspens surround and shade the home while clusters of willows form around the ponds. Wildflowers pop up in the summer time giving you great scenery while you sit on the porch and overlook the ponds. In the ponds you'll find a healthy population rainbow and brook trout that are fun to catch whether you're a beginner or experienced fisherman. If you are looking for more river fishing opportunities you can travel 5 minutes down the highway for access to the North Platte River.
The log home was built in 1984 and sits at 1680 square feet. With 3 bedrooms and 1.5 baths, this house would work as either a mountain retreat or full time residence. The home runs on solar and propane, keeping the costs of upkeep to a minimum. A soapstone wood burning stove sits in the middle of the family room and heats the house during the winter months. Upstairs you'll find a large loft area with plenty of room for multiple beds. The 784 square foot old homestead sits north from the home and is perfect to use as a guest house or hunting cabin. Included with the ranch are 2 row boats to use on the ponds as well as a Ford backhoe which will help with projects and upkeep around the property.
Hermit Jack Ranch is located in GMU 161 which has phenomenal big game hunting. Quality deer, elk, moose, and antelope are frequently seen in the area. Furthermore you can hunt ducks on the 2 ponds and creek. Private access to National Forest is transferred with the ownership of the ranch which gives many more acres to explore and hunt. Unit 161 is an over the counter archery unit for elk in Colorado, meaning you can get a tag every year without even having to enter the draw.
