Our Pioneer Cabins offer rustic log cabins with a 19th Century feel. Secluded and private, these cabins are situated very close to the river. Currently furnished with two queen beds and armoire, mini-fridge, microwave and cold water sink. Walk to the community bathrooms in the motel/office building. Picnic table. Campfire ring. Our Deluxe C abins offer a little luxury with views of the mountains as well as the river. All-inclusive with bathroom and mini kitchen with 3-burner stove and mini-fridge. Brand new and very nicely decorated. Heated. Currently furnished with a king-size bed, bedside tables and breakfast table and chairs. Picnic area with large campfire ring or we have camping cains with two adjoining rooms per cabin. Currently one room with double bed and one with a double wtih twin bunkbed. Walk a short distance to community bathrooms. Only steps to the river with picnic table and fire ring next to the river. RV sites! Full hook-up sites with 30 or 50 amp.Treed. Situated right along the river or set back higher to enjoy scenic mountain views. And last but not least, a private residence built in 2006, 2400 sq. ft., 4 bedrooms/2 baths including master suite with walk-in closet and separate entrance onto deck. Huge kitchen and living/dining area. Pantry and lots of storage space. Deck overlooking the river. Outstanding mountain views.

Sweetwater River Ranch is located right on the Arkansas River, one of the premier whitewater rafting rivers in the country. If
you’re looking for adventure, there are several outfitters within a few miles who provide rafting/kayaking, rock climbing, horseback riding and ATV trail riding. There’s also outstanding trout fishing on-site. Jeep and ATV trails are only a couple of miles east. And within an hour’s drive or less are miles of hiking and mountain biking trails in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and several of Colorado’s world-famous “14ers”—mountains over
14,000 feet in elevation.

Sweetwater is a healthy, diverse riparian ecosystem and has been designated a Wildlife Habitat by the National Wildlife Federation. It teems with wildlife and offers excellent bird watching with countless varieties, including bald and golden eagles and the elusive osprey. The surrounding area offers glimpses of bighorn sheep, mule deer, elk, pronghorn, coyote, bobcat, mountain lions, bear and even moose. Wildflowers abound in the summertime.Sweetwater is equidistant from the towns of Salida, Canon
City and Westcliffe--about a half-hour drive to each.

Twenty miles east along a beautiful, unpopulated stretch of river is the Royal Gorge with lots to do for the entire family (a great train ride through the gorge, aerial tram, bungee jumping, carousel, petting zoo). The Canon City area offers interesting museums and antique stores. Salida (Aspen South) has lots of art galleries, shops and restaurants, a hot springs Aquatic center, and loads of personality. Salida is the hub of the whitewater kayaking/rafting and mountain biking crowd, and annually hosts FIBark, the oldest and largest whitewater festival in North America.

There are hot springs and a ghost town within an hour’s drive of Sweetwater. A little farther away in Colorado Springs are Garden of the Gods and Pike’s Peak. Two hours south is Great Sand Dunes National Park and two ½ hours west is the Black Canyon of the Gunnison.

And you will have access to 31 acres of common grounds including ½ mile of river frontage on both sides of the river.And if you don’t feel like doing much of anything, just sit back on your own property next to the river, relax and renew!
