The Dunne Valley Ranch is located in southcentral Kansas in Unit 16, world famous whitetailed deer area. It features 21,212 contiguous acres of great grassland and good farmland. This ranch has had only two owners. The Dunne family has owned all or part of it since 1941. In the era of the great cattle drives, the Cimarron River Valley in Kansas and Oklahoma lay along the western arm of the Chisholm Trail, also known as the "Great Western Trail" or the "Dodge City Trail." According to historians, the trail crossed into Kansas about 4 miles east of where the Cimarron River traverses the border, which would place the trail near the southeast corner of the Dunne ranch. From 1876 to 1885 over 2,000,000 cattle passed along the trail, but the cattlemen, along with the cattle, were mostly transient visitors to Clark County. The ranch features 4 creeks & the Cimarron River, & more "bottom" land grass percentage wise than I have ever seen on a Kansas or Colorado ranch. (I have been looking at ranches for 58 years!) It has very good fences, lots of divided pastures and is extremely well watered. Great wild turkey & upland game hunting enhance value. The improvements are well done and both homes were remodeled in 2004. 1/2 of the mineral rights are reserved to the Sellers. If you have always wanted the "best" large cattle and hunting ranch in Kansas, you had better hurry!
2010 taxes were $23,754.04
