Property Description

The Francis Cattle Ranch is located 13 miles west of Cheyenne, Wyoming on Happy Jack Road.  Operated within the family for over 110 years, this ranch has withstood the test of time.  Excellent stock water can be found in each of the 30 pastures from the five creeks, developed springs, reservoirs and pipelined water tanks.  The 400 acres of flood irrigation hay meadows averages just under 1.5 tons of hay per acre per year providing winter feed.  Currently the ranch is holding 300 plus head with ample grass still remaining.   This ranch would be excellent for a yearling operation.

Spanning an area nearly 9 miles from east to west and 4 1/2 miles from north to south as a continuous block, the terrain is diverse from the lush creek bottom meadows to the grassy rolling hills.  Several areas of rock outcroppings stand along the old historic river banks.  These outcroppings offer protection for the cattle herd as well as the resident population of trophy mule deer and antelope.   The developed reservoirs catch the fall migration of waterfowl offering tremendous hunting.  The five streams and reservoirs also have the potential to be great fisheries.

This ranch is pleasant to operate due to it being a large continuous block of deeded acreage. The streams flow lengthwise through the ranch providing continuous fresh water.  The interior cross-fencing was strategically placed to compliment the streams and water resources.  The various species of grass creating the thick sod, has been well managed and looks pristine.  Engineered working pens were designed on a sale barn concept making the hard work flow much faster and easier.  Truly, in combination, a ranchers dream!

To compliment the ranch, this is the first time the Francis Ranch Headquarters has been offered for sale.  This consists of several outbuildings, a modern shop and the main residence.  Separated by Happy Jack Road from the rest of the ranch, the new owner could utilize this as a main residence or divide it as a headquarters for the ranch without impacting the integrity of the ranch.  The calving barn, corrals and pens are also located on Happy Jack Road, thus making for easy transportation to and from the ranch.

Call for your private showing of one the nicest cattle ranches in southeast Wyoming!
